GATORS BEAT GONZAGA IN FORT LAUDERDALE 12/16/2000

The Gators beat Gonzaga at the Orange Bowl Basketball Classic in Fort Lauderdale. Pilam assembled a block of about 20 for the event. In attendance was Matt Adler. Bob Altman, Barry Zimbler, Dale Cohen, Mark Schwartz, Dave Kabiliun, Gavin Kahn, David Weiss, Doug Jacobs, and Bobby D., among others. Eric Poms, pc '83, who practically runs the entire Orange Bowl was there, although we didn't find him until the end of the game. This, despite the best efforts of Orange Bowl Executive Director and Gator alumni, Keith Tribble, who did attempt to point us in the right direction. We also ran into former Gator basketball star, assistant Coach, as well as head recruiter, during the Norm Sloan era, Kenny McCraney. Jon Miller, pc '79, appeared during one of the timeouts on the court and performed admirably, playing one on one against the Orange Bowl mascot, despite the pressure of thousands of fans watching him.
