The Pearl was dedicated to Roland Farris for the tremendous spirit, courage and fortitude in which he faced open heart surgery to correct a hereditary heart condition.
Bob Klausner was President of the IFC. Sandy Chisholm was IFC Social Chairman. Rick Blau founded the Pre-Professional Service Organization which became a part of the University Medical Center. Rick Gilman was named Director of IFC Frolics while David Tillis served on the Executive Board of the Fraternity Purchasing Association. Stuart Sacks was Vice President of the Florida Players. Jeff Hochman was elected Honor Court Justice and served as Public Relations Chairman for the IFC. James Benjamin, Sandy Chisholm and Rich Blau headed up the Social calender. Pilam had parties with SAE, Kappa Sigma and XPhi fraternities sharing top bands. The Blue-Jew weekend was re-initiated with the Phi Delts for the first time since the 60s. We had two great socials, an all night farm party with AEPhi and a beer and pizza party with the DGs. In athletics, Pilam won racquetball and bowling. We finished 4th in track, led by George Aradi's 100 yard dash victory. Bob Merlin finished 4th in the hurdles. We won our bracket in volleyball and finished 2nd overall led by Goldberg, Meyerson, Lippman, Aradi and Hecht. We also finished 2nd in football. At the end of the Fall quarter, Pilam was in second place overall. The racquetball champs were helped by Lippman, Adelman, Kornstein, Aradi, Seidler, Sacks, Alonso, Rodstein and Michelson. The bowling champs were Livingston, Forman, LaRoche, Volpe, Hecht and Gilman. We were 3-1 in handball. Standouts were Saulson, Frank, Slom, Tillis, Lippman and Adelman. Louis Lippman won Best Senior Athelete. Louis was a top rated racketball and tennis player. He also played football, basketball, volleyball, track and handball. PC '73 had forty members initiated into the fraternity. Pilam came out on the short end of the score in Nosebowl, 27-19. Pilam took the lead early when Hecht hit Saperstein for a long touchdown. The lead would subsequently change hands several times. Hecht also had touchdown passes to McChristian and Milov. Also contributing on offense were Frank and Martin. The defense contributed with three interceptions. Defensive standouts were Livingston, Smith, Frank and Milov. Robert Klausner was Best Senior Brother and the Best Freshman Brother was Lewis Gornitz. Pilam had 110 active brothers and about 12 little sisters. Rex was Sammy Slom. Archons were Jeff Hochman and Bob Merlin, KOE was Steve Seidler, Scribes were Victor Alonso and Mark Trach, Pledgemasters were Rick Gillman and Josh Rodstein and Marshalls were Josh Rodstein and Keith Nelson.
