![]() The Story of Frolics Twice a year the Interfraternity Council sponsored Frolics. On Friday and Saturday night in the Florida Gym, a big band played for the fraternity members and their dates. It was a formal affair and their were always great bands, like Billy May, Ray Anthony, and others. The fraternities were assigned either a Friday or a Saturday night. On the other day, each fraternity would have a big party on their own. It was better to go on Friday night because that gave the fraternity a chance to have an all day party on Saturday. In the spring, we went to a lake about 50 miles away and had complete use of the beach and the eating facilities. This was where purple passion (a forerunner to Moke Juice) was concocted and served. Dates came in from the brother's hometown or another college. It was not unusual for a date to come from 1,000 miles away. When we lived in the old house, the brothers moved out and the dates lived in our rooms and beds. We slept with brothers who lived in the dorms. --Howard Grossman, pc '52. |
