| 10/1/2001 Letter from Bob Merlin click here for more pictures I am pleased to inform you that the Pi Lam house at the University of Florida is officially open and doing well. For those of you who attended the re-opening this past weekend, I know that you were pleased with not only the condition of the house, but with the quality of the guys who are now Pi Lam Brothers and Pledges. The House renovations are not complete, but enough was done to make it look good and make us all proud again. I understand that approximately one-half of the money we raised has been spent. There is a lot more which has to be done, but it will get done. For those of you who were there this past weekend, please let those who did not go know what you saw and how good it felt to be back in the House. For those of you who have yet to make a pledge to the campaign to renovate the House, we still need your participation. Please call me at 305-448-1555 to talk about it. Every pledge counts. I brought to the weekend a check for $180.00 from one Brother and a pledge for $10,500.00 from another Brother. They both count and will be used appropriately. Thanks to both of you, and you know who you are. So, you can now feel free to go by the House again. Just be patient while the rest of the work is being done. Some composites are up, especially (coincidentally) from my era, the Fabulous 70's. If any of you have any composites, trophies or plaques, or know anyone who has any, please get them to the House ASAP. We want to display them, where they belong. By the way, the Alumni Room was completely re-done. I have never seen it look as good as it does now. It was a wonderful feeling to be back in the House. It felt great. I hope that you will go to the House soon. See what has been done. Fraternally, Bob Merlin |
